Biblical Death & After-Life

There is one topic which causes some confusion for the believers in the Holy Scriptures. Death and what happens after that moment. I understand the reason why many people tend to disagree on this subject. Tradition and misapplication of Scripture verses will bring about a misunderstanding of death and what the Bible says takes place after that event. I will simply list my argument for why I believe the Scripture says; once we die, we do not immediately ascend into heaven but, rather we rest in the ground until resurrection at the last day. Also I will explain why I believe so many people think once you die you are walking on golden streets and with Yehovah & Yeshua.

I will first start as usual with the verses that people use for life after death.

2 Corinthians 5:8 “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with Yeshua.”

From face value if we simply read this verse, it would appear to seem as if when we die we are immediately with Elohim. But, is this the case. Rather than select a verse without further investigation. Let’s examine a little further and see what the big picture shows us. Does it make sense overall or can we be missing something in between the lines. The Bible says we must study with all the puzzle pieces to view the entire picture.

What many people do not understand is, once someone dies, they are in a sleep state, As we will show at the end of this blog. So to someone who dies, the next thing they will realize is being resurrected and being with the Father and Yeshua. As if no time pasted... Which would mean "Absent from the body is to be present with Yeshua.

Isaiah 28:9-10 "To whom would He teach knowledge, and to whom would He interpret the message? Those just weaned from milk? Those just taken from the breast? "For He says, 'Order on order, order on order, Line on line, line on line, A little here, a little there.'"

So rather than selecting a verse which suits your current position, the Scripture says we should test all things.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 “But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.”

If there are verses which clearly contradict the position you believe. You should examine all verses on the subject and study to show yourself approved.

2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

Now let’s look into some verses which clearly contradict the fact once you die you go right to heaven or hell. Also some common sense analyses which would not seem to line up with this assumption.

One of the most loved men by Yehovah, is King David. Although David had his shameful episodes in his life, God honored him greatly during and after his death. So much so that even the kingdom wasn’t snatched out of his sons Solomon’s hands for David’s sake.

1 Kings 11:34 “'Nevertheless I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand, but I will make him ruler all the days of his life, for the sake of My servant David whom I chose, who observed My commandments and My statutes.”

Why do I bring this up? If anyone in the Bible deserved to go to heaven after his death; many would agree King David would qualify. Let’s ask the Scriptures what happen to King David after his death.

Acts 2:29-34 “Brethren, I may confidently say to you regarding the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.” Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, he would raise up the Messiah to sit on his throne, he foreseeing this spoke about the resurrection of the Yeshua, that neither was his soul left in Hades, nor did his flesh see decay. This Yeshua God raised up, to which we all are witnesses. Being therefore exalted by the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this, which you now see and hear. For David didn't ascend into the heavens, but he says himself, 'Yehovah said to my Master, "Sit by my right hand.”

(Hades: is the Greek term for the under world. She’ol in Hebrew “שְׁאוֹל” – This simply means “grave” NOT a burning place of fire. Review FAQ section for further evidence.) Often the word "hell" you see in your Bible,is actually simply the grave.

When David died the Scripture says “He was dead and buried and did not ascend into heaven.” Why would a man after Yehovah’s own heart not be allowed to go to heaven, if he was so loved by God?

It’s because once someone dies; the Bible says you are sleeping in the grave till the resurrection, not immediately in heaven.

John 11:11-14 “This He said, and after that He said to them, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I go, so that I may awaken him out of sleep." The disciples then said to Him, "Master, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover." Now Yeshua had spoken of his death, but they thought that He was speaking of literal sleep. So Yahshua then said to them plainly, "Lazarus is dead.”

But what did Lazarus’s sister say to Yeshua when He arrived?

John 11:21 “Martha then said to Yeshua, "Master, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” Even now I know that whatever you ask of God, Yehovah will give you." Yeshua said to her, "Your brother will rise again." Martha said to Him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day."

Now ask yourself, if Yeshua says; Lazarus is sleeping (Dead) but, he went straight to heaven. Why would his sister Martha say “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day."?

It’s because all people who die are reserved in the grave until the judgment.

John 12:48 “There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day.”

If once everyone dies they’re immediately sent to heaven or hell, this would mean they have been judged at that moment by the decision of where they would go. You can’t go to “Hell” and burn in everlasting fire; only to be taken out on the last day, to then be told “You’re judgment has come, to hell you go.”

This makes no sense at all.

Many will bring up certain stories in the Bible which appear to prove their afterlife claim like Saul summoning a witch to call up the spirit of the prophet Samuel.

1 Samuel 28:11 “Then the woman said, "Whom shall I bring up for you?" And he said, "Bring up Samuel for me."

1 Samuel 28:14 “And he said unto her, what form is he of? And she said, an old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself.

If we do not examine this very closely, it would be an open and shut case. But, notice in the original text one word is often left out, Saul “perceived.” This doesn’t mean it was Samuel, simply gives the fact that Saul believed it was Samuel. Many versions will change the wording or completely leave this word out of the verse. Mainly because of bias and wanting to prove something w

hich isn’t true (Afterlife)

Satan and his angels are very crafty and deceptive.

2 Corinthians 11:14-15 “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.”

Another story people use is that Yeshua went into hell after His death and spoke with the spirits in hell.

Did Yeshua die and descend into hell?

No, the Bible passage in question is 1 Peter 3:18-20. The preaching was done "by the Spirit" (verse 18) in Noah's day--to people who were then living (verses 19, 20). The "spirits in prison" refers to people whose lives were in bondage to Satan. (See Psalms 142:7; Isaiah 42:6, 7; 61:1; and Luke 4:18.)

Often people will bring up the phenomena of NDE’s (Near death experience) where a person’s heart stops beating and they’re presumed dead. Then while dead; claim to leave their body and float around as a spirit. Is this truly the case or is there something else going on. I admit this situation actually had me falling for it also. Until I learned what the Bible said about death, spirit & afterlife. I know many won’t agree with me; and I won’t fight to make someone see things a certain way. I can only speak for myself. Even if the heart stops beating you’re not literally dead until the brain functions cease. The chemical (Dimethyltryptamine-DMT) is made in the brain and is what causes dreams. At the moment of oxygen flow being cut off. The brain will dump a large amount of DMT into the system which causes extreme hallucination. But, no one who has had complete brain function cease has ever come back to state they have had a NDE.

When NDE’s happen in Islamic countries, the people see Allah, in Asian countries… Buddha. In India they see Krishna. Yet in my studies all those god’s are actually the same deceiver (Satan) and openly admitted by the worshippers at high levels. (Review the Deceptions tab)

Also when people see “Jesus Christ” they always say, it is peace and no worries, nothing is required. But, when we read the words of Yeshua Messiah (Jesus) in the Scriptures are always directing us to obey the Word of Yehovah.

Matthew 7:22-23 “Many will tell me in that day, Master, Master, didn't we prophesy in your name, in your name cast out demons, and in your name do many mighty works?' Then I will tell them, 'I never knew you. Depart from me, you who work iniquity.”

The Greek word used for “Iniquity” is Strong’s # G458 ἀνομία anomía, an-om-ee'-ah

The Condition of without law

Because ignorant of it

Because of violating it

Contempt and violation of law, iniquity, wickedness.

So why, would Jesus come to you and not tell the same thing He said in the Scriptures. The Bible says…

Isaiah 8:20 “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”

It doesn’t make any sense and seems to be a deception to lure you into a false sense of security. The Scripture clearly says when you die you sleep.

Job 14:10-12 “"But man dies and lies prostrate Man expires, and where is he? As water evaporates from the sea, and a river becomes parched and dried up, so man lies down and does not rise. Until the heavens are no longer, He will not awake nor be aroused out of his sleep.”

Psalms 13:3 “Consider and answer me, O Yehovah my God; Enlighten my eyes, or I will sleep the sleep of death.

Daniel 12:2 “"Many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake, these to everlasting life, but the others to disgrace and everlasting contempt.”

Matthew 9:24 “He said, "Leave; for the girl has not died, but is asleep." And they began laughing at Him.”

1 Kings 2:10 “Then David slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of David.

1 Kings 11:43 “And Solomon slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of his father David, and his son Rehoboam reigned in his place.”

Psalms 17:15 “As for me, I shall behold Your face in righteousness; I will be satisfied with Your likeness when I awake.”

Ecclesiastes 9:5 “For the living know they will die; but the dead do not know anything, nor have they any longer a reward, for their memory is forgotten.”

Psalms 115:17 “The dead do not praise Yehovah, Nor do any who go down into silence."

You would think once you die and go to heaven that, praising God would be a given. It's not because the dead are in a dreamless sleep state waiting for the resurrection.

Can it be any clearer! Guess how many verses clearly say “When you die you go to heaven.”

NONE!

Yehovah Bless you all.
